With the continuous rapid growth of environmentally friendly vehicles that are being produced by almost every car manufacturer today, GM is taking the eco-friendly wave to a new level with their “Car Heaven Program” as described in their latest post:

“The Car Heaven program was created to clear the roads of older, high-polluting vehicles by recycling them responsibly and making way for a cleaner environment. By bringing an eligible, older car to a GM dealer or retailer, you receive $1000* towards the purchase or lease of a new GM vehicle.

An Inspired Relationship - General Motors of Canada has been working with the Clean Air Foundation as the exclusive automotive sponsor of Car Heaven, which is a testament to GM’s commitment to the environment and leadership in creating environmentally friendly technologies in the automotive industry.

In their first year working together, Car Heaven received three times as much participation as it did in the previous year. GM also helped make the program available in every province as Car Heaven spread its message throughout the country.

Recent success - In 2007, Car Heaven won the Gold Award for Climate Change at the Canadian Environmental Awards and GM was presented with the Waste Minimization Award from the Recycling Council of Ontario.

GM of Canada and the Clean Air Foundation also received the Pyramid Award of Recognition from the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) for their work on Car Heaven. This is the first time the award was given to a non-governmental organization and it’s a great indication of how successful this relationship has been and of how many people have taken notice.

Take a breath of fresh air - To qualify for the $1000 rebate* on a new GM vehicle, your vehicle must be a 1995 model or older, in running condition and licensed and insured for the last 6 months.

Whether your vehicle qualifies for the GM incentive or not, all donors are eligible for Car Heaven. Donors may still ensure that their car is recycled in an environmentally responsible manner, have their vehicle towed for free (valued at $200) † and/or will receive a charitable tax receipt for at least $50 when they participate in the Car Heaven program.
